The best site to use for birth, marriage and death registration is

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/

This covers from 1837 to about 1925, it is an ongoing project and is updated about once a month. This site is free.

The district, volume and page no. are the details you need to order a certificate from the GRO

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

The cost is £7.00, make sure you tick the box that asks is the GRO reference known - yes; otherwise the cost is higher.

Hope this helps

The volume and page numbers are on BMD records....not on the census.

The census is a completely different record...........taken once every 10 years.

Yes, you arent viewing a census, you are looking up birth, marriage and death references.
