I need a bit of advice please from you experienced searchers.

I am searching for a birth record for a minnie berry. It now transpires that she may have had the surname Whittle as I have found out ny nan was married to a Whittle in 1912 and a Berry in 1928. She could also have been born as a Midgley (nans maiden name) She would have been born in Blackpool in the twenties or probably earlier. Have searched myself silly and can't find a trace although have found all other family members.

Any tips GRATEFULLY RECEIVED?

Have you tried different spellings for the various names? Remember that Minnie might not have been her given name. Also, some people had not been given a first name when they were registered so she could be down as 'female'.

Huia.

I am so grateful for the info. Will need to order some certificates to find out the facts. They will hopefully also give me some details about Mr Whittle as I have no info on him at all.

Selena,

Margaret T certainly is. She was my mother and my starting point in the whole journey. Her father Michael Berry is more of a mystery. He was born in 1890 also in Blackpool and had a first marraige to an olive taylor. I do not know what happened to him after my mum was born apart from her telling me that she had a younger brother called michael (after her father) who died young she never mentioned him again. Another challenge is to find out when he died and where, rumour has it he went to Ireland but I can't confirm that yet.!
