Hi Jim

Thank you for responding, again, as I know you have in the past.

Yes William was a Weaver - not sure if you have the correct one there - as far as I know, William had two children, James born 1820 and David born 1807, there is a big gap between them I now, so there could possibly be others in between.

On James' marriage cert, it definately says father as William Window, occ Weaver. He also said he had a record of a william Window, death 19/11/1829 at Puckle Church, St Thomas the Becket.

The chap no longer works there, as I have called today and the lady was unable to help??

I really wanted to know how and where do I search for William, knowing that he was born somewhere in the 1700's

Thanks

Jo

Hi

I have been on familysearch.org and many many other sites trying to access records, but nothing coming up. I will look into transcripts for Gloucs - thank you for that.

Heather - yes they did give this info to me at the Gloucs RO, I originally contacted them to get some certs for other possible rellies and the chap was quite helpful in ringing me back with other info that I hadn't really asked for, but proved helpful, he went on to tell me who James married ( which I already suspected) on then asked if I wanted to know who James' father was - of course I said yes, but didn't want to get ahead of my self, before I'd confirmed details of other rellie's I was searching, so kept it in the background till I was ready to go further.

Sorry the marriage cert didn't say William was of full age, that was a possible death listing.

What else would James' marriage cert of told me - obviously it said all about James and that his father was William and that he was a Weaver, is there something else that I should be looking for??

Thanks

Jo

When did he marry and where? Did you not buy the certificate for all the other info it contains? Im amazed the RO just gave out the info over the phone. Why would his father be listed of full age? Thats what the couple normally have next to their names, not the fathers.

I'm back as far my ggg grandfather - James Window/Windham/Wyndham, born 1821. I contacted Gloucs RO, where I was told that on his marriage cert, his father is listed as William Window of full age.

How do I go about finding the right William, as records are sparce, is there somewhere that will hold such records?? - how will I know when I've found the right one???

Any help would be appreciated - sorry if this is a simple request!!

Jo
