Can anyone tell me how i trace ladies whom i only know thier birth names and years of birth please ?

It's a case of looking for possible marriages for them and then finding them on the next census (if we are talking pre-1901) in the potential married name to see if place/year of bith matches up.

When you look through the marriage register though it will only show the mans surname and first name and the womans maiden name and there are a lot of granthams out there unfortunately so it could take a while. that is if i am reading this correct ?

Depends where you are looking and when, you still haven't mentioned a year.

If you are looking at FreeBMD then clicking on the page number will tell you the full name of the female. But surely if you know who you are looking for you will have entered their first name anyway? And you should have a rough idea of where they were from.
