XP and Vista are the operating systems which computers use.

If you're downloading and transfering between computers you will be using programmes (eg: Word, Excel, photo imaging etc) to work them.

Therefore, it's the programmes which need to be compatible and not the operating system.

I had just the same problem as you Shirley, me tapping away upstairs and OH on his ownio downstairs. Bought a laptop and its worked out fine but quite compulsive to have one so close to hand. Mind you, sometimes I'm tapping away downstairs and he's upstairs playing solitaire! Recommend it. The laptop that is!

Thank you both. don't want to pay out buying a Lap Top to find it isnt compatible with my PC,would be a waste of money.

Hi Shirley

I don't think it will cause a problem as MS programs are usually backward compatible, ie. you can use earlier programs on the newer ones but the older ones don't understand the newer technology..make sense?

Am seriously considering getting a Lap Top cos spend too much time in my study upstairs whilst OH is downstairs on his own watching TV in the lounge.
Thought it would be good idea so we can at least have some conversation whilst doing our own things.ie in the commercials etc.
NOW ,have been thinking tho that Lap Tops wil now be programmed with Vista whilst my Pc has Windows XP .SOOO my question is if I download or Upload anything on the lap top and then save it to my memory stick ,will it cause problems trying to add it to my PC Windows XP.
Any advise please

Shirley
