Hi Keith, after trawling round unknown territory, I finally found out that if you download gedcom then it can take up to 36hours to index tree and make it searchable.....panic over but thank you very much for your time, Ellen

Got Family Tree Maker and loaded it in and registered it on Wednesday night, been working fine, I did change the name of my tree as per instruction book, then downloaded GR family tree now nothing and I can't see any way to find out .....it was purchased in England on tues and am using it in Spain, can't see how but would that make a difference?

Have you entered your tree under a different account name ( I dont know if that is actually possible)? If so if not registered, you will not be able to see the records.

hi Keith, no I can get onto Ancestry but can't get into records, maps anything at all. All I can do is add info that I already have but can't research anything....by the way thanks for answering so quickly

Hi Ellen, do you mean cannot get onto Ancestry?
I am not having any problems at the moment.

thank you Keith, exported successfully, you've saved me days of work, however now that I have done that I can no longer get into any records or census details - is this my fault or is the site down? I'm new to both computers and Ancestry so if it's a daft question sorry... thanks again Ellen

Ellen, you can export a Gedcom from here and import that to Ancestry. See Import/Export Gedom at the bottom of the page.

Please, is there anyway I can transfer my fam tree from genes to Ancestry...other than doing it manually? got hundreds to transfer thanks for your help Ellen
