Simple question re Death Certificates

I have tried to search the 'system' on Genes but cant find the answer ..... I want to apply for the death cert of William Carroll who died in Liverpool in 1930. He was born in Ireland and buried on 8/10/1930. I have the plot number and will visit next week to try and confirm DOB....... I have never applied for a death cert.

Can someone please tell me what details I can hope to get from the Death Cert please... Will it just say place of birth Ireland or could I strike lucky and get a County? Will it give occupation and informant etc?

From my mothers work I have the date of death as the 5th of October 1930 but need to confirm.

I hope I have posted this on the right message board.... John

I assume this is his death age 73.

December quarter 1930
Carroll William, age 73, West Derby Volume 8b page 653.

If you wish you can order online from the GRO here :-
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

If you use the GRO reference above, the cert will cost you £7.

Barbara Dixon has an excellent site about certificate contents here:-

Sadly you won't get a place of birth on a death certificate. You will get his last occupation and the name of the informant.

The information given on the cert will only be as good as that known or believed by the informant.

An excellent site explaining Birth, Marriage and Death certificate contents, and variations, since the start of registration.

John,

the death certificate will not give you a place of birth but it will give you the following:

Place of death/ name/ gender/ age [this may be an ill-informed guess]/ occupation [and perhaps a relationship]/ cause(s) of death/ informant [and perhaps a relationship and address].

They are almost always worth having.
