I can just hear you singing "Knees up mother Brown" as you are typing Heather.

My nan used to play the piano there around that time :)

Do you know which brewery owns it? They will probably have an archivist who could help. Or the local history library.

Cheers for that.

I have googled this pub no end .There are so many pub guides and historical tales about it,but nothing that suggest clues of the people who ran it. London is a long way from Manchester and I doubt that I will visit in the near future. I could always write to the people who run the pub at the moment and see what they can tell me.

I had not thought of Electrol rolls. How stupid of me.

Thanks again

If such a list exists then it would be at the local archives, there are no lists of pubs/publicans generally online, you could rty googling the pub name or hunting for some local history site.

Another alternative if you know roughly when would be to try and access the electoral roll, again those won't be online but would be held by the local (to Wapping) reference library.

Where would I find a list of Publicans/Landlords for a pub in Wapping London in the 1930s? I would like to know what year my family ran the Prospect of Whitby.

Thankyou
