DELETING ME!

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

I've managed to have 2 me's in my tree and my mum is married to her father!
As I have over 100 names to delete and re-input is there an easier less time consuming way of amending my mistake?
Many Thanks
Liz

Not sure but I think you coud try deleting those below you on the tree, starting with the youngest.....and working up to yourself and your Mum....

Joan,

Thanks for the reply, I've tried that but as my mum is married to her father (oophs) and my dad the system will not allow me.
Do you know if there is a CD I can purchase to do it away from the GR site and then bring it back in?
Thanks
Liz

There are plenty of free family tree programmes which you can download. I use Legacy.
You can download the free version, then export your tree from GR as a gedcom. You can then alter it and delete the original GR tree, before bringing a new one back in.

It is far better to keep your family tree on your home computer, making sure that you keep a back up of course. that way you can just keep a skeleton tree on GR without all of the personal notes etc, or the living people.

I am not pushing Legacy over anything else, but if you want to use it, I have written some very basic "How to " notes, which include downloading it, importing trees, all the basic info you need to use it. I would be glad to send these to you if you want

Linda,

I welcome anything with the word "basic" in, I'll take a look at your suggestion.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thankyou.
