Charles is in a pedigree resource file on family search.
Perhaps you could contact the submitter, she may have more info. (Unless you're the submitter!)

Had a look on FindMyPast but unfortunately Births at Sea records don't start until 1854 :-(

Have you looked on the National Archives for his fathers Army records you may get lucky and find them as pensioners records were kept .I have my grt x 5 grandfathers records from there ,he was in the army from 1825 -1849 .so you may get lucky with yours

Can anyone help me on tracing anything about his father or birth records ?

I have his marriage certificate and can trace all descendants BUT
as regards why he was born at sea and who his mother ws, I am stumped !

His father was John Hall born in Bradford in about 1805 and was a Pensioner in the 19th Regiment of Foote, according to Charles's marriage certificate.

(John remarried and travelled to Ontario, Canada from Essex in about 1851, with his wife and 2 new young children - I have managed to trace them all there too, luckily.)

So, the main query is....who was his mother ? Can I trace his arrival into the UK (I am assuming his father had been abroad wit the army..)
