Hi Angi,

Have you tried www.AncestryIreland.com

You have to pay to view but you can search for free, if its a common name though it may be difficult to find.

Hi,

Thanks to everyone for replying, and to your question, Betty Boo, I don't know - on the 1901 census, it just states from Ireland!!!

Its nice to know I'm not the only one struggling!!!

It is strange though that there are great sites, like Freebmd, ancestry, etc, etc. But nothing of the sort for Ireland.

I will join you on that one! My family are from Cork (1870's) but that is about all I know and trying to narrow down info for birth certificates etc is prooving v. hard.

Hi Angela.

What area in Ireland do you want to search for these births and marriages?

I wondered if anyone knew which is the best site for the Birth, Deaths and Marriages in Ireland from the 1880's.

Also if anyone knew a site that goes further back than that?

I have just found some relatives that 1st appear on the 1891 census, stating they are from Ireland.

I wouls like to find their births and marriages.
Thanks Angi x
