At least I wasn't being silly. It isn't there. I live in Greater Manchester so I am sure a trip to the office shouldn't be beyond the realms.

Thank you for another pair of eyes.

No worries Caroline ;-))))

As Kath has said, there is a possibility it wasn't registered. If you are close to the Lancashire records office you could look up the baptism in the parish registers for free....assuming they have them! A phone call first would sort that one out. Otherwise, that Male Cannon looks like the only likely one that I can see

There is every likelyhood that his birth wasn't registered as registration wasn't compulsory until 1875.

Although this gives Bridget as the mother, Ann is Edward Cannon's mother on the image. The Cannon's are lodging with the Farrells and the head of the household is James Farrell who appears to have been missed off the transcription

I have been looking for some time for Edward Cannon born circa 1856. The census records show he was born in Oldham. The family had some connection to Oldham because his parents Thomas Cannon & Ann Farrell were married there in 1852. They later moved to Bowling, Bradford. I have searched for his birth cert with no luck. The only nearest thing i could find is the following:

CANNON (boy) Oldham Above Town Oldham FALD (maiden name) OAT/33/132 (reference).

Can anyone else get any closer before I buy the above cert to find out?

Thank you

Caroline
