Just seen your message too Stephanie...thanks for the info. I did not realise there was more than one factory. Does your Mum have the surname Cook?That is the name I am researching. I have looked at the Trade and Street Directories for Bedford and there seem to be loads of Cooks working in close proximity to one of the factories. Lynn

Just seen your message - I come from Luton. There was not just one hat factory - the town was renown for its hats (which is why Luton Town football team are nicknames The Hatters). My mother was a milliner most of her life working for just one of the factories

I seem to have a lot of relatives that lived in Luton Bedfordshire that worked at the famous Hat Factory there. Does anyone else have any and have they researched this topic? Would like to know where to start looking for records.
