HELP Please !!! Trying to find lost family

((((( : King Cole : ))))) Report 29 Aug 2008 17:59

Can anyone help me please. I have an ancestor who, with his family, are on the 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1891 census. None of them appear on the 1881 census. Does anyone know why this might be? Did something unusual happen in that year that I am not aware of? Any information would be very gratefully received.

They could be mistranscribed. Post some names on here and see if someone else can find them. You can search 1881 by address or occupation to try and find them.

Some times, they just can't be found we all have that problem at some time or other

Thanks Jennifer. On the 1891 census, Head of house is Edward John Cole - listed as a signalman. His wife's name is Emily and their children's names are: Albert B, Ernest, Dudley S, Stella F, Mabel E, John, Ada and Florence.
How do I search the 1881 census by address? Have never done this before?

Sorry Glitter Baby ............

Had to go away for a while. Thanks for the help. It looks as though you've found the right ones, though I don't know why they're listed as COLEMAN.
And - YES - by the way - I think Priest is a mistranscription for Ernest.
