Hello Barry,

Thank you for the prompt reply. Yes I already had the census info. This is where I got the New York from. Its so annoying not being able to trace a birth.
I think the family were emigrating and that Mary had the child and they then decided to come back to the UK possible because of the Civil War in USA. They did settle back in Hull and that where I was born.

Hello,
Can any kind person who has access to Ancestry with American BMD do a look up for me please.
I am looking for a birth of a Joseph Gardiner/Gardener/Gardner born New York in 1857/1858? his father was Francis Gardiner and his mother Mary (Johnson) both born in England.
