Hi Janet

No not on the corner that is/was the Antelope, it had green tiles on the front if I remember correctly. As far as I am aware that one is still there. The Wakefield Arms was on the corner of Park Road and Grange Road on the other corner was The Holly Bush pub, we were opposite the Primary School, can't remember its name.

Was the pub on the corner of Park Road and Church Road? If it was I can vaguely remember it. Our school sports ground was just down the road from the junction of the two roads. (It was when I was at Juniors 33 years ago)

Phone Leyton Library first to make sure they have photos. Its about thirty odd years since I visited there and I think some of their holdings have moved to Vestry House.

Thanks Chris

I will definitely be paying a visit to Leyton library sometime soon I think that is definitely the place to start the search offline.

Meanwhile maybe I should start searching Park Road images online and see what turns up from that.

Thank you all for your helpful advice.

Hi Becs
I was in exactly the same position as you - a pub my grandfather ran where my dad was born, demolished in the 1930's in Liverpool. The brewery had no photos of it in their archives.

I happened to be at the central library looking at other records and decided on speck to ask staff about the pub. Nothing was registered under its name but when they called up information held on the name of the street - 2 fantastic shots of the pub! (Even with a woman who looked spookily like my grandmother outside).

Keep looking. You'll find one somewhere!

Thanks Chris, that was the site I had found which had a picture of the demolished remains of the pub, but very kind of you to help.

So I'm still looking at present!

Thank you, how silly of me it was the Wakefield Arms.

Will try both of your suggestions.

As an ex Leyton girl my first port of call would be to phone the archives at Vestry House Museum in Walthamstow. I'd also be inclined to contact the Waltham Forest Guardian, if they can't help try Leyton Library.

Name of the pub would be useful

Perhaps they would have a photo

Hi All

My mum ran a pub in Park Road, Leyton, East London E10 which has now been pulled down and flats built on the land. I have searched high and low for a picture of this pub but cannot find one using a search engine, the only one I found shows the pile of rubble as it was knocked down (quite disconcerting knowing you once lived there!). If anyone can find or has a picture of this pub I would love to hear from you.

Thanks
Becs
