Sorry, lost the plot so to speak. My grandfather died in Essex. Have yet to get my first Scots death certificate.

Incidentally a LOT of Workhouse Infirmary's later became the Local NHS Hospital.
Our daughter was born in SE London in 1958 in the local Hospital that had been the Workhouse infirmary in the 1800/1900,s

Stobhill Hospital is still with us.

The road mentioned above would be Balornock, rather than Balonock.

Well in England Workhouses had there own infirmary's But these were open to non Workhouse inmates as well .Doctors had to be paid for when they visited patient and lots couldn't afford that.
When a seriously ill person,or a pregnant mum needed medical help but couldn't afford it they went to the workhouse infirmary but the stigma of seeing that on a birth or death cert made a change in the practice of recording this.so that the postal address of the infirmary would be shown on records

I've got some death certs with the address of the Hospital on. I still haven't been able to establish if my grandfather died in hospital or was living near to it because of this.

Does anyone know of this hospital. My partners uncle was born there and the place he was down as being born at was 133 Balonock Road and he also died there 4 months later with the same address. Why would they put the address down and not the Hospital name as at 1st i thought it was a house address. Hope that all makes sense. Debbie
