I should think it is as it is today, My Uncle lived died in the North of Scotland, but it was his wish to be buried in his home town,in the family plot where his Mum & Dad and Sister are. all buried |

Could it have been her wish to be buried in her birth town? Some people stipulate this in their Wills, or even word of mouth to family members. They may just have been carrying out her final wishes. |

The male members of the family were only fishermen so wouldn't have thought they had much money to purchase a plot. When her husband died, he was buried in a public grave with about 7 other people. Anyway, it's a long way to take a body and I'm curious to what other people think. |

I was searching the parish records on Saturday and I found the burial of a relative that died in 1890 in West Ham. Strange thing was that she was buried in her birth town in East Donyland, Essex. Wondering why she was buried so far from family home. Her family continued to live in West Ham for many years after her death. |
