Newbies and the IGI, tha ttells you haw to do it

have you tried familysearch.org?
It's free - but a word of caution - unless the pages say 'extracted' at the bottom, they have been added by people using the site and therefore need to be 'doublechecked' so to speak.

hi ,thanks to you kind people who have helped me,i have got as far back as i can with the census searches.
can anyone please tell me how to go back even further,and if there are any sites i can do searches on.thankyou
