The same folio number applies to an even-odd pair, so you can't necessarily just decrease the page # by one - that only works if you decrese from an odd # to an even #. When you decrese an even # by one to an odd #, you also have to decrease the folio # by one.

Joseph

Please don't spend money on buying credits to look at records on GR ....... it's by far the most expensive way to do your research!!

If you can't afford a subscription to ancestry ....... try a 2 week free trial, or ask on here for people to do it, or try accessing ancestry at your local librayry.

The subscription may seem expensive at first sight, but when you realise you have 24/7 access, and all the other records that are available on amcestry, it really isn't!!

George.

Yes I was trying to view on GR and it seems that you only get the 1 page. The page with the name that you're researching.

Thanks, to yourself and Glitter Baby.

George,

I never gave that a thought about viewing census through GR.

Just picked a name at random

Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece 1011; Book: 3; Civil Parish: Assington; County: Suffolk; Enumeration District: 2; Folio: 5; Page: 2; Line: 8; GSU roll: 474633.

So what ever you have then put the details in and alter the page number by 1 digit.

Or if you know the name of the head do a search on that

Ive just tried to view census records on Ancestry, and no problem.

Are you viewing the record on Ancestry or is it through credits on GR, perhaps Gr dont let you view the record, just a thought, although i dont know if this is the case when you view on GR, be interested to know though.

Thanks Glitter Baby

Tried that but the previous/next arrows seem to be inactive. Is there anywhere where I could maybe search using the ref. number on the page?

When viewing the image look just above it.

You should see Prev or Next

Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a way to find a "previous" page in a census record.

The person I was looking up is in the 1841 census, along with 2 siblings, but the head of the household and possibly other family members seem to have been registered on the page before.

Any help would be gratefully received.
