i have found a relative on 1891 census but the address in Manchester disappeared by 1901 census and have since lost him.
Similarly have an address for someone in Burlinton street in 1906 Manchester but can't find the adress in 1901 census. Any ideas?

it might be the properties did not exist in the 1901 census or they may fall in a different district or parish to the earlier census returns, streets could be renumbered or even re-named..

The names of the people may be mistranscribed or they may be recorded by their initials.

If the Burligton St in question is the modern one by the uni, then it exists on the 1848/93 OS maps.
At http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ enter the coords 384500, 396500 and zoom to a step or 2 below max.
