Thanks everyone. I got so fed up I gave up.

My son came today and looked at it - says the download was corrupt or something and then tapped a bit and downloaded it from a different site and its worked.

Thanks so much everyone for trying to help.

Please check out trialpay though everyone - you get full software programs for zilcho if you buy a small item from one of their merchants. I already have the full zone alarm av suite and now this one - just for buying some ink from ink club which I need anyway and I used ink club normally.

I was doing this because I apparently need to download a patch from FTM2008 which is zipped.

Zipping is the act of reducing the size of a file by shrinking it in size or packaging a set of files into a single file that is called a zip file.

The files in a zip file are compressed so that they take up less space in storage or take less time to send to someone by e-mail.

There are several popular programs that can be used for zipping files: WinZip is just one of them but XP has it's own built in zipping software.

The result of zipping is a single file with a ".zip" extention. After you receive a zip file, you may have to extract and decompress the file by using the same kind of zipping software that was used to zip the original file.

You must have all gone to bed!

I'm off now, I would like to know what zipping is, but I probably won't be on here again until Wednesday night. So to anyone that replies, thank you, and I'll thank you again on Wednesday!

This may be a silly question, but I have no idea what you are all talking about! What is zipping?

I create a new folder on my Desktop before unzipping, then use XP Compressed File Utility, extract the files into the new folder.

Works for me every time.

Carol - it isn't very good though - very basic.

XP has it's own built in Zip program no need to buy one. Right click on the zipped file and select Extract All.

As you say winzip is a trial application which you have to pay for. Why not try 7-Zip which is free and handles the zip format fine (plus a few others).

I ran out of my free trial on winzip and went to try and download another one (?) when I saw by buying some ink on trial pay I could get the complete winzip program for a year free.

Ive bought me ink, Ive downloaded the winzip but when I go to open it it asks me to choose an application - WHAT do I do please? It says this link needs to be opened with an application. I click on choose application and then Im stuck?
