Hello

Any ideas on why you wouldn't be able to find someone in a census record? I can find them in 1901 and 1891 but then no record in 1881.

I have also got another person who I can find in 1901 and 1891 and not in 1871 using the searches available on this site but they appear again in 1861.

GR does not show 1881 as it is free on IGI


post the details of who you are looking for


Unless you have GR Gold membership then it is expensive buying credits and most members do not do their research using GR - especially as GR do not hold any records at all

It is possible that they were away from home on the night of the census and where they were staying didn`t include them because they may have assumed they would be included in the place where they usually live. It`s just a thought.

For goodness sake dont buy GR credits, get a free 14 day trial with ancestry.co.uk

Thanks for all the tips!

I have now actually managed to find the person I was looking for - at long last!

It is def worthwhile looking around lots of dfferent sites so thanks for the good advice!

My ancestry free trial ends tomorrow!
