Possibly East London Advertiser or Newham Recorder will have details you are looking for. Good Luck.

The closest library to where the death took place should have back copies of local newspapers on microfilm. Most libraries have email addresses. If you google you should find it.

CLW2005 Report 7 Sep 2008 11:46

I have recently received a death certificate for my great grandmother.
She died in July 1965 at 5 Ida Street, Poplar.
Informant of death is the coroner.
It says there was an inquest - she died alone - of 'coal gas poisoning, accidental'.
I know that coroners records were not kept.
I believe this would have at least been reported in a local newspaper.
And my question is which one??
I've already searched Times online - nothing.

So if anyone can tell me what newspapers were available in the Poplar area in 1965 - I'd be grateful!

Many thanks - Christine
