Does anyone know or can tell me how to find out about a possible mental hospital or asylum in Burntwood Staffordshire in the 1910's - 1920's. I have been told that my great great grandfather was "in hospital" in that area, as I can't find a record of his death in the place where the family lived I am wondering if he died in Burntwood, anyone know the registration district at that time for Burntwood? This has been a real poser for me for ages and just to find out the name or existance of the hospital would be a breakthrough.
Thanks Gerald.

I've just 'googled' Burntwood Asylum, Staffordshire.
There is quite a lot to look at.
Don't know if any of it will help, but worth a look.

when I was a child, if I had been naughty my Mum would say 'you'll see me in Burntwood' and for years i thought that it was the mental hospital!!! My grandfather worked at St Margaret's for many years. At one time it was completely self sufficient with it's own farm for meat and vegetables.
