Julia, where did the death take place? Where are you planning to send the PO to? If you are thinking of the GRO, they do take orders by post, but cost £8.50, or £7 online.
If you wish to pay £7, unless you do it online, you will have to apply to the register office where the death was registered, and some charge slightly more than £7 to cover postage, but I think the majority charge £7.
If ordering from the local register office, a covering letter with the details of name, age, approximate date of death etc should be sufficient plus of course your return address (unless you include a large SAE to cover return).

Julia

it's probably easiest to direct you to a thread elsewhere, it will give you some onfo about what you will find on a death certificate and how/where you can order them

I'm assuming you need info for an England/Wales certificates, info on the link below;

Would a very kind person answered the following questions for me.
1. What information do I have to give,when ordering a death certificate

2. I have purchased a £7 P. Order to pay for it, but what address do I send it to, and is a covering letter with the information sufficient.

3. What information will the certificate contain so that I can match it up with the birth certificate, thus proving I have the correct person.

Many thanks in advance
