The adoption could have taken place near to where she was born. However the older she was when adopted the higher the likelihood that her christian names weren't changed. I hope for your sake she had at least a first and middle name. Then it could be just a matter of waiting for freebmd to transcribe her birth year!

Rebekah,My mum was adopted in 1933 and mum has told us everything and we have seen her real birth certificate. My mum met with all her brothers and sisters. My mum did apply to see her adoption file, but was told she had to see a social worker first. My mum knows all the details of why she was adopted as she was told by all her siblings. What mum will not do is see that social worker as she was adopted 73 years ago and she does not need councelling.Without her doing this, means that we can not ever find out either. Hi Rebekah,

Any adoption information that could have been got sadly is no longer avaliable due to the fact the adopted person is now deceased and only they themselves have rights to their birth details..

Unless you know her birth name it will be pretty difficult to try and discover anything much.

Her original birth registration will be in the bmd, her post adoption name won't appear there but unless you know what birth name to look for then it is virtually impossible to find her birth cert.

My grandma was adopted back in 1932 I have a copy of her adoption certificate and have also have the marriage certificate for her adoptive parents.

As my grandma died 16 years ago and I have asked all my relations if they knew anything of her birth family they have all said no. Is there anyway I can find anything out about her life before she was adopted?
