The Gro says that unless I can find a baptisum record for him, they will not consider it for correction, seems a little unfair to me but they have their rules don,t they. I might have to try and go to greenwich myself and find a bap cert although i,m not even sure that he was baptised. oh well, onwards as they say!
Thank you everyone for your help anyway.

I dont know if you will be able to change this Julie. If he has signed as C H Bannister, may be its the name he used every day rather than his "official" one.

thank you for the replys,

info is as follows:
Charles Henry Bannister
d.o.b 24/06/1909 greenwich, deptford south,
mother eliza louisa Bannister formly Watson
Father Charles Henry Bannister ( this should read Henry Joseph Bannister.
I have Charles marriage cert stating correct father of Henry Joseph but for some reason he signed C H Bannister instead. I supplied the Gro with the marriage cert of both parents as well but because Eliza Louisa put her name down as Louisa Eliza they would like more cert details before they will correct this.
Other siblings of Charles Henry also have the same on their certs with the mother changing her name around.

You could always email them with your query but Im not sure how much it will help - you would surely need the original register? Perhaps you could give us all the ins and outs of this. Point being the names you know may not be the correct names.

Hi Julie,

If you post information on who you are searching the birth of, where they were born and approx year of birth, someone will try and help you find the information you need to order the birth certificate from GRO..

Hi, I am trying to get a birth cert corrected and have been told that they (gro) need further evidence of parents names, I was told to look in Greenwich depford south records, does anyone know if they are on the internet at all, as I can,t get to the offices at all, i was hoping they are available on line.
Does anyone have any ideas on this please and thanks
