The inquests were usually reported in the local papers. I have a very good report from around this time. My chap just dropped down dead, so it wasn't a sensational case. The papers were usually weekly at this time and as you know when the inquest was from the cert, you should be able to find the report. The newspapers are on film in the nearest large library (not records office). Google to find the nearest library with a family history section. If you can't go, they offer a look up service which doesn't cost much

This question comes up frequently and unfortunately the answer is very few inquests survive and even if they do they will only be a precis of the event.

The death cert will tell you who was the coroner. I think as it appears to be natural causes its unlikely it will be reported in a newspaper,. which is usually where inquests can be found.

Try the records office for the death location, giving the details you should have on the cert.

I have received a death certificate for someone who died in 1878 due to sudden disease of the heart. It says there was post mortem and a report received by the coroner for Middlesex following an inquest July 31 1878. Does anyone know whether there would be a record of the inquest and where it may be held?
Thanks in advance.
