Can anyone please help. If the father dies before the child is born, will it show deceased after his name on the birth cert, as it does on the marriage certificate.

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks Christine
I thought they would put deceased but as you say depends on the registra.

Just checking for a friend who has in their tree a child born after father dies in an accident but they cannot find any details of the accident or his death cert anywhere.

I have a death cert. of father on the 3/8/1849 and birth of son on 14/10/1849. Fathers name and occupation on birth cert. No notification of him being deceased though. Perhaps mother didn't tell registrar that father was dead.

All she has told me is that it was early 20th cent 1910/1912. She only asked the question about deceased on birth cert
I wondered if the father had died sometime before the birth of the child and the family story says he died in an accident to cover things up wouldnt be the first l bet

My great gran had premature twins 10 months after her husbands death. They are registered in his name. No deceased on the certificates. They both died some three months later and it states their father was deceased then. Just as well his death was in a different district to the one where the twins were born and died

My OH Great Grandfather died in August 1858 - I have his death cert. I also have the birth cert for his youngest son - born 1860 - father wasn't even described as being deceased on the birth cert!! lol

It may be worth looking a little further back for the death

Janet,
Obviously no-one noticed that the twins couldn't have been his, as they would have been concieved at least a month after he died (plus however much they were premature). Just goes to show, we can't always believe something just because the certs say it.

Yes my husband's great grandmother had a son a week after her husband died of smallpox.
On the certificate is says the name of the father , then deceased after it.

I am having trouble finding my grandfathers birth cert and the marriage cert of his parents. Grandmother was married at least once before and she had a child registered to her late husband two years ofter his death, so not sure if they ever married.

Does anyone know if births registered locally automatically get transferred to the FRO ?

Bit of a story but here goes, I went to Kew looking for info on my paternal grandfather who was in the Army according to the birth cert of his first daughter born 1904.Found his Army record and at the same time found his elder brothers record too. Part of the bros record showed that he had died in 1910.
Came home and found the death cert,at the same time was looking for more on the family and found a birth cert for the same family some pos 3 quarters later. Got the cert AND it was for a son born to his wife after he had died. seems she was 3 months pregnant when she lost her hubby, the cert named him as dad but didn't say he was deceased. Unfortunately the little boy died aged 3 months. his death cert then did say his dad was also deceased
