Hi can anyone help,I have come to a dead end,I'm looking for the birth of Robert Candrick(could be Kendrick) in the census he said he was born in Etal ,Northumberland 1796,I have looked at several film without success. They may have come down from Scotland,if that is the case I suspect a name change,I'm looking for his parents.
Robert was married to Margaret Davies in Llywel,Wales in 1821,no parents name on the film.
Where can I look next, does anyone have any records of Northumberland.
Thankyou
Mary

According to Genuki etal comes under Ford.
Ford is not on the IGI, but the parish records for Ford for the time you need are on the new Search labs site

Family search site

http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch
is the website for the new IGI site which many of the bishops transcripts for Northumberland, Durham and Cumbria. They are the copies of the parish register books which were sent to the bishop at the end of each year. They should be identical to the parish register you see in the records office, but of course, the person who sat and copied them out at the end of the year could have made the odd mistake

It is free, but you need to register. It then tells you to wait for an email to complete the process, but I have never received this. You just need to wait a few minutes (depending on the time lag between here and the USA), then log in again.

On the opening page, click Europe on the map, then choose England, Diocese of Durham, Bishops transcripts ca 1700-1900 from the list under England .
Chose Northumberland and then Ford
They normally have the baptisms marriages and burials of each year following each other

Many people in Northumberland at that time were non-conformist and the records for them are kept separate from the parish records. A lot have been transcribed so I would ask at the Northumberland Record Office to see if the ones for Etal have been transcribed.

We spent hours at the Northumberland Record Office looking through parish records for my husband's great grandfather's baptism in 1828 only to be told as we were about to leave..."oh, they were probably non-conformist, most people up here were". The lady then found us the transcribed record in about two minutes.
