Dizzi - sadly i am an IT Manager so to me it's everyday speak lol!!

Brian - thanks for the info but i think i'd rather look at something more specialist.

Gonna have a play with PHPGedview once i got it setup on my server and maybe do some mods to get it to do what i want it to.

My daughter has got me a present recently that you can make your own site from. I will be sorting it out nearer the end of the year. Have a look at www(dot)mrsite(dot)com

Just running the "out of the box" software, only mods I made regarding it was to the main site software, so as to pass the gedcom name via the URL. (22 Gedcoms and it still runs ok LOL)

If I remember there is a gallery & message board feature which can be included as well, if you want.

Stu - cheers for that - always forget to search sourceforge!!

Out of interest have you modified PHPGedView or is it pretty rich 'out of the box'?

I think i am going to download it and set it up on my pc to give it a run through,

I use phpgedview on my site, I had a look at all the others, including the paid for ones, and it was the one I thought looked best & also has more useful features than most. Multiple users and gedcoms, is what swung it for me.
There are lots more family tree software packages out there, a good place to look is on sourceforge.

http://sourceforge.net/search/?type_of_search=soft&words=family+tree

If you copy and paste that web address into the address bar of your browser it will take you to the relevant pages, all 129 of them.
Then its just a case of find the one which suits your needs the best.

Stu.

Just wondering if there is anyone who has their own site (not on here or myfamily or similar) for their family history and what software they use? I've been looking at PHPGedView but wondered what else was out there?
