Thanks Pat, Karen, and Rose.
Yes think you are right it must be an error. They had made one or two errors which I had picked up already so I will go back to the census again and have another look with my zoom and see whether it is a D and not a T. Ethel and Francis were grand children to the Head of the household. so it all makes sense.
Rose I was looking at 1911 census Canada Manitoba
Ethel Findlay born 1910.
Pat my maiden name was Harper/ my research shows my ancestors from Shropshire any connection? I know some moved to Lancashire in the early 1800's.

Could be Grand and not Grant. Could it also be foster
child?

I have not seen this before upon checking through some Canadian census for rellies I found two children were listed as "Grant Child" and their mothers name was not entered. What does this mean Grant Child. Thanks Cindy
