That's great - thanks for all the replies. I'll take a look at all the websites suggested. I think the suggested marriage in 1890 is certainly theres - thanks!

You need to be working backwards. How did you get to this Rosina? Through a child of this couple? Then you look for the childs birth cert and buy that fro £7 from GRO online which will give both parents names - from that info you work backwards again to hopefully find their marriage cert, buy that and you will have a lot more detail including both fathers names and occupations to work backwards yet again through census and certs.

There's an obvious marriage in Blean.

There's no guarantee it's her maiden name if she had been married before.

OK,

Do you know about FreeBMD?

Select marriages and put in Frederick Andrews and Rosina for the spouse first name.

The person I'm looking for is called Rosina and she was born in approx 1864 in Hastings Sussex. She married someone called Frederick Andrews in (I think) Canterbury in the late 1880s to early 1890s (by 1893 for sure as they had had their first child by then).

What years are you talking about?

After 1911, the mother's maiden name is listed for births.

Otherwise, try looking for marriages in the appropriate area based on census records.

I'm new to researching my family tree and I've got to a sticking point with the female family members and their maiden names. Can anyone give me any pointers as to how to find out more information on someone when I only know their married surname, approx DOB and where they were born?
Thanks!
