Margaret

If you have set up a thread on ordering certificates, then that is what would be nuged. But you also have to nudge it. Your independent posts on other threads cannot be nudged.

I can tell you that ordering certificates from the ukbmd sites and from local regiistry offices is a pain the you know what when you live overseas!!

To illustrate:-

GRO ............... go to the web site, fill out the form, add your credit card number and that is that. £7 for each certificate, and GRO pays the mailing costs.

UKBMD and Registry Offices ...... fill out the form, print off, don't have any UK stamps, don't have UK bank account so can't write a cheque, don't take credit card. SO have to add an extra £1 to EACH certificate to cover the cost of the stamp, then go to the bank and get a money order for the full cost PLUS a bank charge.

Finally go out and try to find an envelope in a size approximating an A4 (which doesn't seem to exist anywhere other than in the UK!)

So there are reasons why I myself ONLY recommend GRO!

If you want to buy a BMD cert, heres how and here
is the addy where you can buy it online... (copy n paste the following...)

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

(tip)Never pay more than £7
(another tip) for a marriage, you only need
put one partners name when ordering.

If you are ordering online from the GRO,
make sure that when the form asks
"Is the full GRO reference known?"
that you tick the 'yes' box.

Be very careful about other websites that try to you charge more!

Don't agree in all cases. If your cert is on one of the ukbmb sites (e.g. cheshirebmd) you can get it for nothing if the details are not correct.

I am getting a bit fed up of telling everyone this. Why is my post not shunted up the list with nudges?

If your cert is available on one of those sites (and agree the coverage is not great), you can specify anything you like and if the cert does not agree they send your cheque back or cancel your credit card payment completely,

But do agree, don't use any of the other sites which charge a lot more that the standard £7 for a straigtfoarward certificate

Lynne

Here is the link to GRO

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Dont ever order certificates from anywhere else, there are many websites offering this service, but they will charge rxceesive rates and they only get them from GRO, as Christine said you should not pay more than £7-00 for certificates, unless you require a specific search.
