Would some kind soul do a search for me please as I only have Ancestry UK membership.

I'm looking for a Benjiman Naden b1823(we think) who went to Tasmania with his brother(who's name we don't know) We don't know why he went to Tasmania so it could've been as a convict. We also have no idea when he went but he must've been fairly young as he wasn't married etc.

We know that ou in either Tasmania or Australia he married a Mary Maginess(not sure on spelling) who was Irish.

We're trying to trace his origins as although we know he was born in England we're not sure where as we only know it was Holbrook but there are 4 of those in UK.

If anyone could find any info I would worship them forever(after Johnny Depp of course)

Thanks

Sam

for instance, if you follow the conduct record link, at the top of the page which opens, it says "view this record on line" Click on this and a picture of an old book appears. The records are appear to be mixed up, but on the top left of each page is the convict number. Use his from the results to find the correct place in the book

I think that there is a copy of the proceedings in the Times on line archives. Unfortunately my free trial has run out, so all I can see is part of it and as it is a web page it won't copy here.

The snippet of the original report which I can see reads

If you sign up for a free trial, you will be able to see the original copy

Thanks very much guys. I did a search for Tasmania details earlier today and it didn't even bring up that convict site *rolls eyes*

That convict site is brilliant. I found his marriage on there so I know we've got the right Ben Naden. No mention of a brother but maybe that was a family myth.

It will reveal names/birthdates of his off-spring. ....Lastly -there's 'Joy Murrin's Transcription service (on-line) -she will 'search' cert for abt $15 -then you can check 'White Pages' for them. ....Valerie (W Aus)

Thats definitely the right ones Valerie. William Naden and Stella Goolagong ended up with 77 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren apparently.
I've been looking up the details for one of the ggrandchildren and trying to find out about Benjamins family in England to try and find a link with the Nadens over here.
With that many people in the Australian family you wouldn't think they'd want to add more lol
