GRO indexes are not available on microfiche after 1983, as from Jan-1984 onwards the records were all computerised at the outset. Your best bet, as stated above, is to look on the FindMyPast website, which has a copy of the computerised index up to 2006. Have you looked on there yet? The Ancestry deaths index only goes up to 2005 at the moment, so Ancestry won't be of any use to you on this one.

no sorry i do not know where he died i know the date but not the area, and the last known place he was when alive.i cannot get a record of the death,could this be due to an inquest not yet finalised?

please can anyone tell where or how i can check on a relative who died as recent as sept 2006 ? can anyone point me in the right direction , many thanks to people who have already helped in the past,nigel stuart
