I have searched high and low for the birth records of my great grandmother and 2 of her sisters, but cannot find them. They are all on the 1871 census and have the birth records of the other siblings but not these three. Elizabeth Ann Harthern, born c1863,
(my G Grnadmother, some times called Ann Elizabeth) Margaret Hannah Harthern born c 1866 and Mary Ellen Harthern born c 1868, all born Birkenhead Cheshire, according to census. Father and mother John and Eliza Harthern. Sometimes the spelling of the surname is different, but have tried a few combinations but with out success. Can any one out there help please.

Haven't got their marriage record yet, but father from Tattonhall, Cheshire and mother is from either Tilston or Horton in Cheshire, according to census records. They were the eldest children.

Hi Chris and Rose, those two records are looking very good. That wasn't a spelling i'd tried. Which other site do people use for record checking, as you were all so quick. Many thanks to you all.

FreeBMD

and use wildcards * for searching to cover any spelling issues. I used Hart* and chose Birkenhead as the district.

I checked Ches BMD (under Wirral), listed all the H's, then typed ctrl f to do a find on the page. Didn't find any Hannah for your Mary/Margt Hannah - did get a John Wm though.
