The witnesses are sometimes relatives. Perhaps one could be a married sister?. Every clue helps and it could help locate Kathleen.

hi Portland Rose, may i ask why the name of the witnesses? They are J Thomas and M Brown.No occupation for Willaim - only deceased.

Read the Tips for Newbies Julie. Shame this is a difficult one for you to start on but Im sure it will get sorted. You need to find that death cert if you can.

Hi Heather thank you so much for your replies, I am going to search for the death cert as I am fairly sure I know when and possibly where (in Scotland).
yes both of the marriage certs say just Kathleen and both give Willaim Owen deceased - they are dated 1929 and 1938.We dont know anyhting about her siblings or even her mother. I do have an address on the first cert that I thought might give me something to look at on a parish register??? She was 21 so maybe still with parents I'm guessing.All tips very gratefully received,this is quite addictive isnt it.

So on both her marriage certs she used just one name and gave her dad just as William?

When did she die? Have you looked for her death to see whether it gives her exact birth date (as good as the informants knowledge) and whether she had another name?

This is the only one coming up in the likely time span in Cardiff?

Hi Ericthered,Her fathers' name was William Owen.The cert only gives Kathleen, so Im guessing that's it.

I dont know yet where she was born, the marriage certs dont give that. My fatehr doesnt know, as she died when he was 1yr old adn he was raised by paternal family.

Hi, Im new here, and really encouraged by all of the messages Im reading about how much help and support you guys offer to each other, it did make me smile. Anyways, I am trying to trace my grandmother's line,Kathleen Owen, all I know so far is that she was born in 1908/09 - as I have found her marriage certs for her first husband and then my grandfather. I know she was living in 3 Clarence Embankment Cardiff when she married in1929, her father was deceased.I would like to know how to find her birth cert so that I can then trace my GGparents and maybe my great aunts/uncles. Any clues gratefully received by a very novice novice.
