Hi Elizabeth & Kay,

Couldn't find the marriage. I did do searches using only one spouse but all the marriages that came up were not the correct ones.

I can't see the marriage either - Hugh Wallis's batch numbers site for Coatbridge has only the records of Dunbeth Relief Church - marriages from 1848-1858 and christenings 1838-1868 and 1841-1864.

I've looked at SP's "Help and other resources" on coverage for Coatbridge, but can't find it on a quick trawl through...

I find leaving one spouse off marriages brings better results on SP..,,,,

Thanks Elizabeth. I looked for the marriage in the IGI but found nothing. I also looked at SP but didn't find the cert either!!

IGI has 4 of John and Helen's children all born at Kilmadock, Perth - (I haven't checked the Coatbridge born ones).

If you want the SP certs., might be best to use exact spellings given on IGI:

Helen Nevil, father John Nevil, mother Helen Thompson 19 Oct 1874

Anne Neville, father John Neville, mother Helen Thomson 12 Jan 1868

John Nevil, father John Nevil, mother Helen Thomson 31 Jul 1872

(Then Marjory Neville!)

Hi All,

Thanks for your help. I was putting in the places of birth and was coming up with no matches.

I didn't find any Marjories at all!! Thanks for that one Elizabeth. Looks like the one I wont. Helen not Ellen I suppose that is usual. The surname is Neville though, don't understand that! In the census it changes from Neville to Norman!

I will order her cert for the marriage of her parents. I suspected that they may have married in Ireland as I couldn't find the marriage either.

Wasn't having much luck before your help.

Certificate signed by Helen Neville - her mark

Just tried Margaret Norman 1860 - 3 hits but if you use county of Lanark it gives 1 hit.

So no idea what you are using for your searches

Hi,

I have recently joined and have had sucess in finding marr certs. I am now looking for births but searches return "no records" for a whole family!!

What am I doing wrong??

The births I'm looking for are:

Annie Norman b1868 Kilmadock, Perth
Elizabeth Norman 1862 Coatbridge, Lanarkshire
Margaret Norman b1860 Coatbridge, Lanarkshire
Marjory Neville b1870 Kilmadock, Perth
