Thanks to you all. Yes I've tried all the phone books I can find online but got nowhere. I suppose she could be ex directory. Her maiden name is Clare but she married a german named Windheuser and then divorced him so I've no real idea which name she uses now !

Col, don't bother with online translation programs - they come up with all sorts of rubbish :-)

Shannette, you can find the Italian phone book here:

http://www.paginebianche.it/index.html

Cognome = surname
Nome = Forename
Dove = where
Vicino a = near

Just fill in her surname and forenames, and put "Brescia" in the "where" section. If that doesn't give a result, try "BS" instead of Brescia.

If she's not in the phone book at that address, it might be worth sending a letter to the address to see if the people who live there now know what happened to her. If you want to do that, send me a PM.

The local council will know where she went if she's moved, but I don't know whether they're willing to pass on letters.

I am looking for my aunt who lives in Brescia. I have her last known address and thought of writing a letter to the present occupant but wasn't sure how to address the envelope. Do they have the equivalent of previous occupier?
She has a large family who are anxious to tell her their news and make sure she's still ok.
