Im surprised they want your credit card details if the 3 months is free with a program? Have you registered your program - Im a bit worried you are clicking on the activate free trial tab rather than the register program one.

Ancestry have easily the very best customer service team anywhere. They put my trial as 1 month instead of 3 and a really helpful lady answered the phone almost instantly and sorted it. Would that all businesses followed their model...

Thanks for your replies guys. Will bite the bullet and do it - dying to get my hands on Ancestry records even if it is only for a little while!

Best wishes

There is no problem cancelling as long as you do it a couple of days before the date is up.

You can either phone or email them.

Usually I think they cancel from the date you notify them.

Hello all,

I'm sure this has probably been asked before but.... having recently purchased a copy of Family Tree Maker with free ancestry membership for 3 months it's asking for my credit card details to set up free trial.

As my OH will go mad if I accidentally subscribe to Ancestry - already suspicious about ONS entries on bank statement!! - has anyone done this and managed to cancel before the trial finishes?

Many thanks

Maria
