Yes. It's sort of A3, but narrow isn't it? They're much nicer to have.

Chris, I have not seen an A3 copy of a birth cert, that would be huge, twice the size of A4.
Do you mean the long cert, cant remember the size.

They say they charge a £1 administration fee per certificate ordered. So if I was lucky enough to order 7, I've missed out on another one!
The trouble with the GRO is that you only get the A4 version, with the local records offices you get an actual copy in A3.

I suppose as long as they are telling you up front about it they can do as they wish.

Personally I would order from the GRO.

Record office prices do vary, is the administration charge to cover the credit card charge or is that additional?

I wonder if anyone can tell me if this is unusual. I recently ordered a certificate from Liverpool records offfice and was charged the standard £7 fee that I would pay should I order from the GRO in Southport.
Today I have ordered one from Manchester, who charge £1 extra for credit card orders (fair enough) but request a sae (fair enough again). But I was just about to order one from Salford and found they want an extra £1 for administration!
I know it's only a £1 but I hate to feel conned. Are they trying it on, and is this fair?
