Deja vu on my family tree

After finding a match to my tree on GR I've slowly been transfering information to mine...but may have stumbled across a problem. An uncle and nephew in my tree married sisters. That means the sisters need to be linked by their parents as well as the uncle and nephew being linked by the uncle's siblings, including the nephew's father. I hope that makes sense! Basically I don't want the same person being on my tree twice.

I'm sure a lot of other people have stumbled across a similar 'problem'...so how do I link both sets? Or am I creating a problem when there isn't one?! All of these names are so confusing, I start to lose track and am absolutely baffled. Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Em

there is no other way (as far as I can tell) of NOT putting them in twice.
I have two sisters marrying two brothers. Just made a note on each one.

Thanks Christine. Anyone else know any different?

You could try asking GR to do it for you - I think they used to do that.

Or gedcoms? Don't understand those but if you import your tree from your offline package where it is linked the link will stay (I think).

If I import my tree from my offline package?! Gedcoms?! I didn't understand a word of that but thanks for your reply! Am going offline now but will check this thread again as soon as I can. Thanks Jill.

You can build a tree on your own computer by buying a program.Or you can download a program for free, such as PAF.
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp

Free PAF Family History Software
Personal Ancestral File (PAF) is a free genealogy and family history program. PAF allows you to quickly and easily collect, organize and share your family history and genealogy information.
Download PAF

At the bottom of this page;
import/export gedcom

Transfer to your computer and you can link the ones you cannot do on GR.
You can then transfer this to GR and all will be correct.
PROBLEM
You may not be able to add to/edit your GR tree.
