CWGC is the Commonwealth War Graves Commission....only lists the fallen.

The cwgc site only has those who were died in the Wars, not all soldiers. There is no list of all soldiers. For WW1 there are Medal cards on Ancestry and on Documentsonline, but if the man had a common name, it will be difficult to distinguish which is the right man. Some WW1 service records are on the Ancestry website, with the rest at Kew, but to be added at some stage to Ancestry. Officers records for WW1 are at Kew. There is nothing online for WW2, apart from for those who died - the cwgc website.

Please can someone tell me how to find names of soldiers in WW1 WW2 all my relatives were living in scotland during these two wars. Thanks Jean
