You can always look on www.BMDshare which is a site where people list all the information on the certificates they hold.... you never know you may find some you want on there. It is free to join and search. It has over 15,000 certificates on there and the more people add the better the site will become.

Hi James

Unfortunately your only choices are visit the local records office or send off for certificates. If you can find the local record office either online or by post, they will often look things up for you and if they are not correct, e.g. wrong father, you will not be charged. This particular applies to those few offices that subscribe to the bmd project, but might apply to others.

Unfortunately this is not a cheap hobby but hope you find it worth the money.

You can view the baptism, marriage and burial registers at the Records Office for the area where the event took place.

What a lovely idea, it would save us alot of money but no, I'm afraid you will need to order cert & wait a week or so for them to arrive.
I order mine from the GRO which costs me £7 each

Hi All,

I'm new to this so please bear with me.

I've found several records for people in my tree using the BMD indices and am wondering where to go now.

I realise that I can order certificates but this seems to be very expensive if you need several. Is it possible to view the details on the certificates without having to purchase them?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
