I would have thought if you had all that info it's a matter of picking up the relevant book for that parish during that time period. OR looking on micro fiche. Either way, I wouldn't have thought they would take long if you had specific dates.

I think different ROs would be different, I've noticed a big enough difference between two individuals in the same office so... I guess the principle is the same, especially if you get a jobsworth.

Have you tried this site

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk

Online Parish Clerk Project for Lancashire
The site gives a list of all Parishes in Lancashire and in most case parish registers

Have a look

Hi Potty
I think she has the name of the church? You can't actually order online from there for Liverpool but you can download the order form and send it to the cotton exchange in Liverpool.

Have you tried to find the record on the Lancashire BMD site? The index there gives the name of the church and you can order certs direct from the site.

It's true that the Bishops' Transcripts for the diocese of Liverpool are at the Preston records office, but the parish registers for Liverpool area parishes are at the Liverpool & Mersey records office:

As for your real query, I can't really say. Long is a pretty flexible term - here, in Canada, 100 years is a long time - in the UK 100 miles is a long way - they're not interchangable. Did they give a rough time estimate that was way out of line with Bedford - I think that's the key question.

Hi Kathlyn

Wonder who you've been speaking to?

Write to :
Superintendant Registrar
Liverpool Register Office
The Cotton Exchange
Old Hall Street
Liverpool
L3 9UF

Cheques for £7 payable to Liverpool City Council. Enclose an sae. With the year, names and church there won't be a problem. I normally get a response within 5 days and they are always REALLY helpful!!

Best of luck

Chris

When you say "Liverpool Record Office" do you mean register office or are you trying the Lancashire Record Office which is in Preston?

I would think the Lancashire County Record Office would supply the photocopy if you have all the relevant details.

I have had the utmost co-operation from many county records offices during my research, in particular the Bedfordshire Record Office.

I have dates/names, in fact all the relevant info to obtain a copy of the church record of a marriage, but the Liverpool RO has not been as helpful as I would have expected.

Even with names, dates, church info. ect ..they are telling me it would be a long search, with the relevant cost involved to supply me with a photo copy.

Is it me, am I having one of those days, or must I accept that some ROs are not as helpful as others????

Yes it`s one of those days....
