Also if somebody could see if there were a palusible Henry Bowers in the 1861 census that would be useful. His daughter was born in 1834 so he would probably have been born 1800+/- 15 years. In 1856 at the time of her marriage Lucy Bowers was living in Albert Street Cheltenham, i suspect that he was not born in Gloucestershire, maybe in South Wales, Bristol or East Anglia at the time of the wedding in 1856 heis occupation was currier - ie a leather worker.

Any help gratefully received.

yes that's the family in 1861 on the marriage cert John Peter Nottingham (the father in lasw is an Artist, I can't read the occupation of henry Bowers. It seems to say Currier or Curries but the writing is unclear., the winesses are not obviously useful James Ferris and Hannah Hooper who I suspect were just freinds of the couple

Occupation of father would be useful

What age was Lucy on the marriage certificate? may help to locate her.

My direct ancestors John NOTTINGHAM and Lucy BOWERS were married Nov 30 1856 in Cheltenham Glos

I've traved John Nottinham but havent been able to track dowen lucy BOWERS. I've just received their marriage cert which tell me she was living in Albert Street, Cheltenham in 1856 Heer father is Henry BOWERS

There doesnt seem much sign of Cheltenham BOWERS pre 1850s so I suspect the Bowers came from somewhere else. The Nottinghams came from Norwich and before that Suffolk so its possible the Bowers were also from this are as I believe Bowers was more common name in East Anglia.
If anyone can find Henry BOWERS that would be great.I believe Lucy Bowers was born c 1834 the father Henry BOWERS was a currier - ie a leather worker.
