Wiltshire County Record Office used to be at Trowbridge, but moved to Chippenham last year.

This is their website:

http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture/heritage/history-centre-contacts.htm

The page includes the phone number 01249 705500

Family Tree Forum and Genuki both have lots of info on record offices.

I have looked for a local LDS church in my area and it would seem we don,t have one so my next step will be to phone the records office in wiltshire, thank you for your reply I am now heading in the right direction .

If you dont live in Wiltshire then your local records office wont have the parish records for Wiltshire.
If you have a local LDS church they will get the parish records in for a small fee.

Please could anyone tell me, if I visited my local records office would I be able to find any parent details on a couple of children born before 1837? or would I actually have to go to the records office of the area (being wiltshire)? The problem I have is two families with the same surnames in the same village so I would like to check the earlier children born (not on the 1841 census) before 1837 are from my family (details taken from I.G.I)
Can anyone advise me on this?
