Julie, you seldom get the names of the parents on an OPR marriage; the information given is only as good as the minister or his clerk thought fit to write, and that is assuming the record still exists.
If you want to find out more about his parents then if they died after 1855 your best bet would be to look for their death certificates as they should list the names of their parents providing the informant was aware of them.

As for Scotlands people, you should have only used 6 credits for this - 1 for the general search and 5 to view the image.
As Potty says, you are told how many credits it will cost and if you wish to continue, yes or no. If you've already paid then click no, as something is wrong!
If you have already paid to view an image it will state "paid" so can't understand how you could pay for the same image again.
Are you sure you didn't click "view next page" or something like that?

It is usually only 1 credit to view each page of results and 5 to view the image. You are usually told how many credits will be charged and asked to confirm that you want to continue. Did you only look at one image or did you look at several?

Before trying to download an image a second time first check to see if it is listed under Viewed Images.

1838 births would be under Old Parish Records and I believe the charge is higher than downloading a birth cert after 1855 - might be wrong on that.

I got 30 credits with scotlands people found a birth for Robert Irving 1838 which listed his parents names as John Irving and Jane Mcguffie so I thought i would get there marriage but only seem to have 3 credits left. Does it take so many credits for one thing or did i do something wrong. Maybe i did because i had problems downloading so tried again. If i buy extra credits to view this marriage will it tell me John and Janes parents or will i be wasting more credits. Does anybody know?
Thank you
